You want to know who the Miami Dolphins are? Don’t ask me because I’m not interested in them. I am however interested in their cheerleaders, who make a Taylor Swift music video worth watching! Here they cover ’22′ by Taylor Swift, and you can even turn your speakers off and it’s an absolute treat.

I’ve been waiting ages for this! Because it’s excessive and over the top and it’s based on a true story.

“In the movie, Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jordan Belfort, a New York stockbroker who’s approached by the FBI to cooperate in a large securities fraud case. Belfort’s lifestyle involves a lot of booze, insane parties and spending huge amounts of money, so it’s no wonder his reaction is literally throwing dollar bills at the FBI officers”

Check it out, I can’t wait for this film to be released! DiCaprio is absolutely killing it this year.

‘My name is Jordan Belfort. The year I turned 26 I made $49 million, which really pissed me off because it was 3 shy of a million a week’

The latest one I found is called ‘Life In The Waves’ In this video Chris is testing out the Nikon D7100, and as always the images and stories he manages to tell are just amazing. He’s got a great outlook on life and as always his videos inspire you to get out into the world and enjoy it.

It’s not as easy being a guy these days as it used to be. Well, I mean it’s not difficult, but there is more to do.

You’re not really going to attract anyone to you if your satchel is covered in thatch, so you’re now risking nicking it with the Mach 3 twice a week (Um…so I hear?) You cut once, the Mach 3 cuts your balls off. Game over.

If guys like Ryan Gosling weren’t setting the bar high enough for good looks/ripped bodies/piercing eyes and killer suits, chaps like Clooney are now having THEIR SATCHELS IRONED. Apparently he was joking, but maybe he wasn’t?!

I can see why people in Hollywood would have it done though, because please enjoy the ball ironer, Nurse Jamie

Yip, you can now have the wrinkles in your sack ironed out, because this is 2013 and why should we have wrinkly, hairy balls, right? That’s so 2012.

Anyway, all I’m going to think of now when drinking Nespresso is George Clooney, sitting with a soft cloth and some Brasso, polishing his sack.

Might have to stop drinking Nespresso.

Why do people not want to pay for things anymore? Look, I don't know the answer, but I wrote about it anyway.

We’ve lived through interesting times, all in part to the world of digital. When I was in school I didn’t have internet (Well I did at home, but just to check e-mail. Dial up was not ideal and blogs didn’t exist) Magazines and newspapers were what we read. Now I no longer buy newspapers, instead I curate content that I want to read through feed readers and apps such as Flipboard. When I buy magazines, I buy them on my iPad. Everything I need to pay for online, I do. I never download music illegally. If I can’t afford the authentic thing online, I don’t buy it. Or I wait until I can afford it.

I’ve always created content and I’ve always loved it. To see people sharing your work and commenting on it, and even laughing at it is an amazing thing. Using just my mind and a computer, I can create content out of nowhere and have people talk about it. I can create content at home, on holiday or in a coffee shop with just a computer or an iPad. And I love it, however I cannot eat my content. I cannot fill my petrol tank with content. I can’t build a house with content or put it into an investment account. I can’t buy shares with content. It’s a simple fact.

And I know people don’t attach any value to content these days. They love it, are addicted to it and yet they do not want to pay for it. People must assume that writers, musicians and anyone else who creates non tangible things, must be part of some universal trust fund that pays them to be creative. But we’re not. People attach value to cars, food, houses, things that are theirs. But they don’t attach any value to people who produce content for them. Content that informs them and/or entertains them.

The reason why I pay for music is simple, because someone has spent their life creating that music. Music isn’t just something that comes to you in an instant. Music is built from the journey of life, and music isn’t an easy story to write. Music isn’t just a hobby for a musician, it is a lifestyle and a career. It may take months to record an album, but that music has come from years of practice, and the least you can do is pay that musician so that he or she can eat and pay rent and make more great music.

We live our lives these days thinking we’re such great people. We’ve got good jobs, we’ve got good friends and people who love us and we’re going on two or more holidays a year. But behind all of this there are hundreds of thousands of people who you are taking advantage of by not paying them for what they create. Imagine you went into work everyday but didn’t get paid? Would you accept that? No, you wouldn’t. So why would you not pay for a musicians work? Or a writers? Or anyone’s work for that matter?

I’ve been in blogging for longer than most people, and I’ve seen the changes. I’ve seen how brands and PR agencies will try take advantage of bloggers and their audience. They’ll drop you a gift, or invite you to their event and offer you all sorts of free stuff if you write about it. And it’s disrespectful. Do you really expect me to come to your event, and then spend hours of my time writing about it and choosing photos I have taken, for free? For the free drinks and food? You have got to be out of your mind. A good blog post covering an event can take hours to write. Sure, many bloggers will just post a couple of sentences and a few bad photos. But if you want quality, you’ve got to pay for it. When I do freelance work, it is not uncommon for me to charge R1000 for one or two pages of original copy. Why? Because my time is money. No one works for free.

Every company wants free exposure these days and they want you to write about them, but they ‘don’t have a budget’ Well if you don’t have a budget, what are you doing in business? What do you want me to do about it? I turn down nearly every invite I get these days because I know that if an agency approaches me and I go to an event and write/Tweet about it, they go back to their clients and show them what exposure they have gotten for the brand. They get paid. I don’t. If you want me to do something, then you’ll have to pay me unfortunately.

Now that’s just the issue of musicians and people who produce content online. However, the thing that really scares me is that this whole idea that you don’t need to pay for anything is now finding its way into the ‘real world’ The amount of times people want stuff from you for free is reaching a ridiculous level.

I just don’t believe that people place a huge amount of value on anything anymore. Yet the way they value things is bizarre. I’m a huge fan of anything local and am always checking out all the markets in Cape Town, and I love introducing people to the markets that I go to. But every now and again someone will say ‘This is so expensive, R70 for a burger from a market?’

To me, I don’t see this as expensive. Go ahead and pay R20 for a McDonalds burger and eat in in the parking lot or on plastic chairs. A market is an experience, and these people also have to make money.

Even with things like Whatsapp, people complain that it is $1 a year. ONE DOLLAR. That’s like R10. Do we forget that we used to pay around 80c to send an SMS? And now with Whatsapp we can spend R10 per year, and send messages for free. I just don’t understand it, and it’s a problem because people are developing a mental block against paid for stuff, especially stuff you can’t touch. They’ll happily walk around with an R8000 phone, have an iPad lying around but ask them to pay R600 for a weekend at Rocking The Daisies and they complain. But tell them they can only spend R3000 per month on a new car (With a massive residual) and they’re happy to pay that.

I really don’t mind paying for stuff if it’s good. But it seems rare that people want to pay for stuff these days, and it’s as if there is a generation of people who demand things to be free. We expect things to be free, and when they aren’t we complain.

I downright refuse to be part of this, and I will continue to pay for everything that I cannot physically put a hand on, as well as that which I can put a hand on.

I may not have all the things that other people have, but that’s because I pay for a lot of things I want instead of stealing or copying it.

Maybe using people and stealing others peoples work won’t give people bad Karma or have no bad consequences, but I’ll stick to what I do. I may not end up with all the toys I want because I’ve spent my money elsewhere, but I’ll be all the richer for it.
