Mondays Inspiration #2
I love reading books with quotes in them, or just searching for quotes on the internet. They’re short little bits of information that won’t necessarily change your life, well that is, unless you do something about them. It’s also easy to say things, and read quotes, but acting upon them is another story. The real world isn’t quite as easy as a quote, but I think the positive mindset they give you goes a long way anyway. Like The Secret, think of the things you want, visualize them, think positively. And in that regard, quotes from successful people are helpful.
I especially like this one, because sometimes in life you really feel as if you missed out on something that you will never be able to get back. Whether it’s a business opportunity or a relationship, nothing is gone forever. You just need to grab that next opportunity:
“Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.” — Richard Branson
And this is also a great one from Steve jobs. Ever been scared to try something just because of what other people think? Or have you ever not tried something, because you’ve thought of a million different reasons why it won’t work?
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” — Steve Jobs
Remember, just think of how quickly a year goes by. Think of how quickly 2010 went by…its’ not over, but think of the World Cup and all the years build up to it. Time goes quickly. If you work from the age of 20 until 60, that’s only 40 years of work. That’s 40 more of these years…that’s not a lot if you really want to make a impact on the world. So take advantage of things and opportunities and try new things.
Then again, making an impact on the world isn’t really much, is it? As Gandhi said:
“Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it”
In the greater scheme of the world, this is true. There is an entire universe that doesn’t rely on us to make it work…but you know, you need to have fun and have reasons to keep on doing awesome things anyway. And that takes us back to Steve Jobs quote…
